"Rattlesnakes!"
by Piney Woods - SASS 29887-L

Scenario
You're campin' out in the desert when suddenly you hear the buzz of a rattlesnake. Lookin' down, you see several rattlers have come out of a hole and are slitherin' towards your sleepin' pardners. Rousin' your boys with a shout, you proceed to blast the varmints!

Ammo
Plenty!

Starting Position
Standing with shotgun safely staged on SadlBrn, hay bale, whatever... a lot of rounds on your person.

Procedure
When ready , yell "Rattlers!"

At the buzzer, engage snake targets, in any order. Load no more than two rounds at one time and repeat until all snakes have been knocked completely past the chain.

Snakes are only scored as "killed" when they've been knocked past the chain. Any snakes not "killed" before you run out of ammo are scored as misses.

Notes

  • It could be important to carry plenty of extra ammo for this stage.

  • Be sure to anchor the chain securely.

  • Snakes which lodge directly against the chain may cause ricochets if the chain is too large. Thin chain is safer.

  • Snakes can be made from 3-4 ft lengths of garden hose. They can usually take quite a bit of punishment before being shot to rags if they're not too close to the firing line.

  • Garden-hose snakes do NOT react predictably in cold weather!
